Amanda O'Donovan (Clinical Psychologist)

Amanda is a Clinical Psychologist who

specialises in Clinical Health Psychology in areas such as long-term medical conditions, sexual health, sexual assault, trauma, chronic pain, HIV and CFS. She has broad experience in a variety of settings including private practice, teaching hospitals, women’s health and sexual assault services. Amanda worked in the NHS for 15 years and was Head of Psychology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Hospital in Infection and Immunity and an Honorary Lecturer at Queen Mary’s University London, University of East London and the Tavistock Centre for Couples and Relationships, London.


Amanda has a longstanding interest in mindfulness, CBT, systemic approaches and compassion-focussed work and has undertaken postgraduate training in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), EMDR, couples and systemic therapy. She is editor and co-author of ‘Sex and Sexuality: a manual for therapists and trainers’ and co-founder and researcher with My Body Back clinic and Café V in London for women who have experienced sexual violence.
