Amanda is a senior psychologist at ACPC who works at our Illawong clinic offering therapy services for children, adolescents, young adults and adults. Amanda is a passionate and driven psychologist with a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals and the broader community through the provision of holistic, effective, evidence-based treatment and genuine care and empathy.

Amanda is committed to providing evidence-based treatments, which are catered for the individual needs of her clients. Amanda has extensive experience in delivering both individual and group therapy programs. She has worked both in Australia and New Zealand and uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioural Interventions, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) when working with clients. Amanda also has qualifications in Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) and can use this when working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) to assist them with the formation of social and developmentally appropriate behaviours. She holds extensive experience in working with child and adolescent mental health, working in this area for the last 7 years.

Amanda sees a range of client presentations at the clinic including but not limited to individuals with Eating Disorders, Social Anxiety, Selective Mutism, Depression and Autism Spectrum Disorders delivering various therapies suited to the individual’s needs.

Amanda started her work in adolescent mental health when working at Headspace in Sydney 7 years ago where she worked with young people suffering from anxiety, depression, school avoidance, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual and physical abuse and school bullying. Amanda has a specific interest and expertise in the treatment of Eating Disorders, particularly Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and ARFID. Amanda is the senior psychologist of the Eating Disorders and Body Image Clinic at our clinic. Amanda started her experience in the treatment of eating disorders 6 years ago whilst working at the Eating Awareness Team at St John of God Waipuna, in Christchurch. Here she delivered therapy to individuals aged 15 and over with eating disorders whilst providing education and support to other professionals and carers coping with a family member with an eating disorder.

She has also facilitated a number of group programs at the clinic teaching social skills, emotional regulation and study skills as well as co-facilitating group programs elsewhere for Social Anxiety Disorder and Binge Eating Disorder.

Amanda is fully registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a member of the Australian & New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders (ANZAED). Amanda completed a Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Honours level at the University of Sydney. She then expanded her skills through the completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Practice at the College of Professional Psychology.

Since then Amanda has been very active in advancing her competencies through her professional practice, and through ongoing professional development and training. Amanda has also previously been involved in a number of clinical research trials in relation to the treatment of social anxiety, applicability of cognitive remediation for first episode psychosis and healthy brain aging. She has also been part of a longitudinal research project exploring the progression of mental health disorders over time in a youth population. Additionally, she has been involved with the publication of 3 journal articles relating to the impact that administration of Arginine Vasopressin has on social cognition.

Amanda only works at the Illawong office.
