South West Oncology has been providing medical Oncology services to the South West of Victoria since 2005. Dr Theresa (Terri) Hayes relocated from Melbourne to set up the practice at Wentworth Consulting Suites. More recently Terri has been joined by Dr Oliver Klein, a German trained clinical Haematology and Oncology specialist. The group was further enhanced by a third full time Medical Oncologist, Dr Ian Collins in February 2014. Dr Terri Hayes, Dr Oliver Klein and Dr Ian Collins all work collegially sharing their expertise and breadth of experience.

South West Oncology also provide a Chemotherapy service to Portland as well as consulting weekly at the Portland Specialist Centre. This improved service means minimal waiting times for newly diagnosed Cancer patients ensuring specialist treatment is timely, and delivered close to home.

South West Oncology also are involved with a clinical trial program enabling regional patient’s access to large international research trials without the need to travel. The rooms are based at the new SWRCC and are open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm. Patients who need to have chemotherapy can choose to do so at South West Healthcare, in the cancer centre or privately at St John of God Hospital. The service is also well supported by breast care nurses, specialist chemotherapy nurses and an excellent palliative care service.
