As a registered psychologist since 2007, I have operated a private practice as a general psychologist in Bendigo, Central Victoria, between March 2009 and March 2018. During that same time, I provided psychological services through southern central NSW, Echuca Victoria, and since 2011, part time services with the EWHS organisation in north central Victoria. My part-time role with EWHS completed in early April 2018. Now, for family and lifestyle reasons, I have relocated to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, to resume self-employment here in July 2018, after an extended holiday. I am now very excited to re-launch my career in Queensland and to provide many new services, including group work, small business consulting, and more. My mainstream clinical work will continue, but with a renewed focus using new methodologies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while continuing to offer mental health services from a performance and wellness (positive psychology) perspective. Furthermore, my most significant interest in neuroscience and neuropsychotherapy in particular will inform my psychoeducation activities with my clients as well as be integrated into the various therapeutic services and performance psychology work. Previously, my first career involved more than two decades in the Information Technology industry in Melbourne. This considerable background in the corporate and management domain provides for a natural extension of my services into the business community, via workshops or individual sessions in management coaching and training, primarily aimed at small business. This is especially the case given my training and expertise noted below. Meantime, sport has been a constant in my life. Initially, as a competitor and fan; then as a coach and administrator; and later in the areas of sport and performance psychology, having completed a Masters degree in this area of specialisation as a psychologist. This training and my work experience affords me the opportunity to offer services, as applicable, that involve an integration and convergence of sport and performance concepts, psychology, coaching, management, and well-being. Increasingly, sport psychology is a major focus within my practice. Nevertheless, sport psychology can be usefully considered more broadly as 'performance psychology', and so be readily applied to every aspect of one's personal, leisure, and working life. My interest, experience and expertise is in introducing people to the specific mental skills derived from sports performance research, various coaching methods and neuroscience, to demonstrate how this knowledge can be applied by individuals and groups in the wider community to achieve their specific goals. The benefits are many: encouraging physical, mental and spiritual wellness, optimising sporting and business success, and promoting personal happiness.
