“I would describe my approach in therapy as client centred: it’s all about what the client needs. Working from a strengths perspective – that is the client’s strengths – is at the heart of my approach. I would like to think I am easy to connect with and bring an empathetic and compassionate presence. Bravery is also a term I would use to describe my general philosophy, and I realise that it is bravery that’s required of anyone who enters the therapy journey.” Una is an experienced mental health practitioner, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and member of the Australian Association of Social Workers. After obtaining her bachelor of Social Work from the University of Queensland in the mid 1990s, Una went on to explore opportunities to practice social work in many different health settings, in different places around Australia and the world. These included mental health crisis response in Canberra, paediatrics in Alice Springs, and medical hospital social work in London. Brisbane-based since 2002, Una has focused on mental health service provision to adults with serious and complex mental health needs.
