arah is a West Australian who graduated and commenced her nursing career in Perth in 2006. She has since taken on a variety of roles which have enabled her to live, work and travel around remote Aboriginal communities of Australia and developing countries internationally. She spent four years on the Tiwi Islands, Northern Territory, and in 2013 joined Medecins Sans Frontieres undertaking two overseas humanitarian aid missions. The first in Yida Refugee Camp, war-torn South Sudan, where she managed a 40 bed tent hospital and undertook surveillance in response to a Hepatitis E outbreak. The second was managing a pilot project of active case finding for tuberculosis in elderly people in rural villages of Cambodia. Sarah is due to complete her Masters of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in November of this year and is passionate about Indigenous, humanitarian and public health.
