Janelle graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 1985. Over the past 15 years, she has specialised in Women’s Health Physiotherapy within both the public sector (Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital) and the private sector (Results Physiotherapy, Chandler).
Janelle is a member of the Continence Foundation of Australia and the Australian Physiotherapy Association’s Continence and Women’s Health Group. She is also on the organising committe for the 2006 Australian Gynaecological Endoscopic Society Conference.
Janelle is recognised within Queensland for her expertise in treating bladder control problems and pelvic floor disorders. She lectures in this field at both the University of Queensland and Griffith University, and runs courses for post-graduate Physiotherapists in pelvic floor Physiotherapy.
Janelle is involved in teaching GPs and other medical specialists the Physiotherapy role in this area. She also lectures on exercise in pregnancy and after childbirth. Women’s Health Physiotherapy deals with disorders that are specific to women (or in some case more common in women). These include: gynaecological, obstetric/maternity, breast management, lymphoedema management and osteporosis.
