Francesca has worked as a generalist psychologist for over 15 years in a range of settings including hospital-based clinical health psychology, community health, grief and bereavement support, dementia care and education, as well as private practice both in Melbourne and in Central Victoria.

Francesca brings a warm, gentle and engaged approach to her therapeutic work which is strongly informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. From her first introduction to ACT in 2009, Francesca has loved the way that ACT brings together the knowledge and science of western psychology with some of the insights of Eastern traditions, particularly through the practice of mindfulness and of changing our relationship to psychological suffering. She has found that profound changes can come from learning to be more in the present moment, to open up to and accept one’s experience, to defuse from painful thoughts and memories, and to live guided by one’s values.

Francesca’s training has been in humanistic, person-centred, solution-focused approaches as well as CBT, while other therapeutic influences and training over the years have included creative art therapy, Jungian Dreamwork and clinical hypnosis. Francesca enjoys art and singing (not in the therapy room!) she feels privileged to work as a therapist and is continually inspired by and learns from clients and she works with.

WHAT ISSUES AND TYPES OF CLIENTS DOES FRANCESCA WORK WITH? Francesca works with adults with the following concerns: Depression, anxiety disorders, perinatal depression and anxiety, adjustment to new parenthood, recovery from trauma and abuse, grief and bereavement, the psychological aspects of chronic health problems, stress, carer stress in dementia care, loss of meaning, life direction and transitions, parenting and relationship difficulties. She is happy to work with couples interested in strengthening the relationship. Francesca does not work with issues of violence or psychosis.
