Life can be a complex tapestry, weaving together moments of adversity and uncertainty, leaving us feeling adrift, overwhelmed, and disconnected. It's precisely during these challenging times that we yearn for understanding, support, and guidance to rediscover our inner peace and fulfillment. I'm Desné, a Clinical Psychologist, and I'm here to be your guiding light on this transformative journey.

My passion lies in helping you heal from trauma, grief, and anger. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I tailor my therapy to meet your unique needs, drawing from proven methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Schema-focused Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

My deep connection to mindfulness, nurtured through my own meditation practice over the years, allows me to infuse our therapy sessions with a mindfulness-informed approach. Beyond individual therapy, I also lead Mindfulness for Emotional Wellbeing groups, incorporating techniques from Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). These techniques can help you stay grounded and focused on the present moment, reducing stress and anxiety.

With a wealth of experience across various clinical settings, ranging from university clinics to mental health hospitals and private practice, I've come to understand the intricacies of the human mind. My previous career in financial services and management consulting has given me insight into the pressures of the corporate world. This unique background enables me to assist clients dealing with workplace stress, bullying, and burnout.

But my commitment to helping others doesn't stop at my clinical work. I've always believed in making a positive impact beyond my profession. That's why I've dedicated my time to volunteer work, including counseling with Lifeline, tutoring children with learning difficulties, and co-founding Partners in Micro Development, an NGO dedicated to improving education and Information Technology access in developing countries. I'm deeply committed to making the world a better place.

My personal journey has provided me with invaluable insights into the challenges you may be facing. I understand what it's like to lack happiness and confidence, and that's why I'm dedicated to helping you rediscover your inner peace and confidence.

Clients often describe me as down-to-earth and non-judgmental, making therapy relatable and empowering. My primary focus is on trauma, including PTSD and Complex Trauma, and my expertise in EMDR therapy positions me as a trusted partner on your path to recovery.

My credentials are a reflection of my commitment to excellence. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and an MBA. I'm fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and Workcover (SIRA). Additionally, I'm a proud member of the Australian Psychological Society, and I hold the esteemed title of an EMDR Accredited Practitioner.

My commitment to your well-being is unwavering. My expertise, empathy, and dedication to your healing journey will guide you toward a brighter, more fulfilling future. Reach out to me today, and take the first step toward a happier, more balanced life. Your path to healing and growth begins with me, Desné.
