Jenn Hawken is a dedicated Clinical Psychologist highly skilled in adolescent and young adult anxiety and low mood. Approachable and friendly, her calm, caring manner provides a safe atmosphere in which to comfortably explore your emotional needs. She collaborates with you to identify a range of coping skills—an effective approach that equips you with powerful insights into your inherent resilience and strengths. What eventuates is a secure assurance of your connectedness and belonging.

Through a gentle, considerate process, Jenn introduces new tools that encourage change and empower you to achieve your goals. She is sincere and attentive, offering a relaxed space for you to examine issues and flourish in. Her results are impressive, evident in the children, adolescents, young adults and parents she devotedly assists.

In Jenn’s capable hands, clients resistant or ambivalent to change, receive an opportunity to discover their personal values, define specific meaningful goals and achieve them. Adolescents grow confident in talking openly with their families and participating more in school; school leavers are supportively guided through making decisions about their future careers, and successfully adapting to the fluid environments of university and the workforce. With Jenn’s help, parents gain a broader understanding of their child’s development trajectory, and deeper engagement with them through more consistent, positive and productive interactions.

As a Psychologist at Creating Change, Jenn combines a Master of Clinical Psychology and Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) with extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.

Her practical experience is comparably strong, built on a number of key roles: as a counsellor in all female, all male and coeducational schools; providing individual and group treatment for a range of ages in private practice; and treating adults and their partners experiencing significant health conditions at Concord Hospital.

Jenn’s level of expertise is evident in the broad range of presentations she treats: generalised anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, childhood and adult depression, self-harm, suicide, behavioural challenges, performance and exam anxiety including HSC stress, and difficulties experienced in family and relationships.

Outside of work, Jenn enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes. When she’s not exploring the world through travel, you’ll find her soaking up the company of close friends and family.
