Jaquie is a Connect Therapy practitioner, who is passionate about returning her patients to the activities they love whether their goals are getting out of a chair pain-free or running an ultra marathon. Jaquie started her career as a Sport and Exercise Scientist and then completed post graduate studies to become a Physiotherapist. She loves getting people active and gets a lot of job satisfaction from seeing her patients achieve goals they did not think were possible.
Jaquie did gymnastics for ten years, was level 10 regional champion in 1998, and made the Queensland team for level 8 and 10 in 1997 and 1998. Jaquie dislocated her elbow before state titles in 1998 which lead to her retiring from gymnastics after national titles that year. After completing her gymnastics career, she took up cheerleading and dance for fitness. She currently dances Brazillian Samba, and Yoga and enjoys gym training.
Jaquie has a special interest in treating insidious onset pain (pain of no apparent cause) especially low back, neck and pelvis pain. She also loves treating dance and gymnastics injuries and due to her back-ground, she is able to keep dancers and gymnasts training – with modified programs, when they are injured. This limits down time and allows them to retain as much strength, flexibility and fitness as possible when they are injured.
Jaquie has completed post-graduate studies in The Connect Therapy Series and the Sports Thorax, (LJ Lee), Dance Practitioner Training (Lisa Howell), the TMJ (Mark Latimer), pilates (DMA), dry needling (musculoskeletal acupuncture), the shoulder (Lyn Watson), sacro-iliac joint (Barbara Hungerford), low back (Peter O’Sullivan), as well as current taping techniques (Craig Allingham). Jaquie also completed a Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in 2010 and won the Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year in 2012 and the Phillip Leong Bursary in 2009.
Jaquie works hard to find the root cause of a person’s pain through the Connect therapy approach. The courses she took under Dr LJ Lee were career changing, in that they enabled her to really tailor her treatment and exercise plans to each patient. As a result, her treatment outcomes improved immensely, along with her job satisfaction!
