Michael is born and bred in Newcastle and graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2010.

His passion and interest has always included sport, which has brought him a wide sporting background including first-grade cricket in Newcastle, tennis, hockey, and long distance running, where he has successfully completed 2 marathons. This passion recently took him overseas to play cricket in the UK, where a deeper appreciation was developed for the role sport has in the health and lifestyle of the community.

Professionally, Michael also has an extensive background in sports physiotherapy at all levels, where he has provided services for:

Newcastle Jets FC Newcastle District Cricket Association Consultant Physiotherapist - Hunter Academy of Sport Cardiff-Boolaroo District Cricket Club Edgeworth Eagles FC Lake Macquarie Dockers Australian Rules Football Club Michael has also provided on-field services to Fremantle Dockers in the National AFL competition, where his skills of assessment and treatment of acute injuries were developed at the top level.

Michael has lectured on a number of occasions to audiences of his peers, sportspeople and support staff such as the Hunter Academy of Sport and multidisciplinary audiences, including being invited as Guest Speaker for the Australasian Podiatry Council Biennial Scientific Conference 2013 on the topic of ankle injury taping and acute management.

Most recently, Michael was working directly with local and regional Doctors, Surgeons and Allied Health Professionals in the assessment and coordination of the rehabilitation of complex cases with a multidisciplinary approach. His special interest lies in the treatment of the low back, hip, pelvic and shoulder regions.

Michael’s treatment philosophy focuses largely on injury prevention and minimising recurrence of overuse injuries by utilising technology such as high-speeded video analysis to assist in optimising fundamental human movement and elite performance. He is certified in the use of dry needling and produces outstanding results with the combination of manual therapies and exercise prescription to optimise motor control and biomechanics in the treatment of both acute and overuse injuries.
