Matthew is a full time physiotherapist at Sydney West Sports Medicine. He graduated from The University of Sydney with Honours (First Class) researching physiotherapy interventions for people with facial nerve palsy. Prior to working at Sydney West Sports Medicine, Matt spent four years working in the Hills District assessing and treating a broad range of musculoskeletal injuries.
Matt enjoys treating all musculoskeletal injuries including, acute sports injuries, chronic injuries, post-surgical patients and work-related injuries. He has worked with athletes from local to national level in different sports as well as men and women looking to improve their health. Matt has a particular interest in running injuries having worked for six years as an athletics coach.
He works closely with patients, medical professionals and employers to ensure an optimal and timely recovery to injured workers. He has a particular interest in lower back pain and its management, utilising a combination of manual therapy and exercise therapy to improve patient outcomes.
Matt has a strong focus on continued professional development. He has completed additional coursework in dry needling, kinesio taping and Pilates (mat work and reformer). Matt has completed his Spinal Level 1 and McKenzie Part A as part of his ongoing education into back and neck pain management. He plans to begin his Post Graduate Masters in the coming years.
