Mr Lawrence Heath (Psychologist)

I’ve been a psychologist practicing across various roles and organisations for over 10 years. My orientation is Person-Centred. It is an evidence-based method grounded in humanist-existential principles. In essence, that means that I approach each person in a respectful, transparent and non-judgmental way; hopefully forming a trusting relationship in the process. I don’t operate from a superior position. I don’t care about appearances, roles, class or credentials. Instead, I do my best to understand how each person subjectively experiences their life and those they share it with.

I also believe that therapy works best when it is tailored to a person’s idiosyncratic needs. To achieve that end, I encourage people to first pay attention to the subtle thoughts, feelings and experiences that spontaneously arise in them. In doing so, I think that a person learns about the bigger truth of those experiences (many of which may have been suppressed). As a person more fully understands what is true for him or her, I help them to work out what changes need to be made in their daily lives using ACT and positive psychology principles. These changes often provide more significant information that might be explored.
