David Field is a Clinical and Health Psychologist and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Health Psychologists and a member of the Australian Pain Society. David has worked as a psychologist for the past 25 years. He has specialist training in the assessment and treatment of chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress management, grief and relationship difficulties. David works together with the doctors at Metro Pain to help patients develop skills in pain management and reduce the impact of psychological factors that contribute to pain. By utilising cognitive behavioural and acceptance commitment therapy David enables patients to increase their awareness of the factors that intensify the pain experience and improve the quality of their life and relationships. David provides mindfulness meditation training in groups and individually to enable patients to reduce unhelpful thoughts, feelings and emotions and increase the understanding of pain and how mindfulness reduces pain and suffering. David holds a Masters of Clinical Psychology. He has conducted qualitative research with people who have chronic pain and experience of spinal cord stimulation and has published research into help seeking behaviour.
