Marina is a registered psychologist who thrives on helping people live well and improve their performance in sport and life. She completed a Master in Psychology (Counselling) at Swinburne University and a Master in Sport and Exercise Psychology at The Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). Marina provides general counselling for personal issues such as anxiety, depression, body image, life transitions, relationships, and enjoys working with culturally and linguistically diverse clients. She works with both adults and adolescents and is trained in evidence-based models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness. Marina has extensive experience working in elite sport and the performing arts. Marina is a consultant psychologist for the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics National Centre of Excellence, the AFL Players Association and Melbourne Victory FC Academy. She also works at the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) assisting athletes navigate through the different stages of their athletic career (e.g. from junior to elite, de-selection/selection, adjustment after returning from events, injury, retirement), cultivate positive relationships with coaches and team mates and enhance their overall wellbeing and life balance using a holistic approach to being an athlete. Marina also specialises in assisting athletes improve their performance through the development of high performance skills (e.g. goal-setting, relaxation, pre-competition routines). Having worked at the Australian Ballet School, Marina really enjoys working with clients in the performing arts. She has also worked with comedians, musicians, actors and actresses and musical theatre. She can assist with overcoming performance anxiety, harness perfectionism, managing stress associated with the lifestyle and concerns about body shape, weight and eating. Marina is from Barcelona and therefore is fluent in Spanish and Catalan. She is an avid FC Barcelona football supporter, she loves an active lifestyle, reading, and enjoying great food in good company. Marina is available at the Kew Junction office.
