Our founding optometrist at Insight Optometrists, Dr Jan Coetzee is a therapeutically qualified optometrist, who started Insight in 1996 with a business philosophy based on personal service and comprehensive eye care. Backed by his 30 years' experience running his own practices in South Africa and Australia, this philosophy is at the core of Insight's success as a business. Jan initially qualified in South Africa in 1985 and was in private practice for seven years before obtaining his MBCO (UK) from the University of Manchester. He moved to the US for full-time studies and obtained his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry (Boston) in 1995, before relocated with his wife and two daughters to Brisbane and setting up Insight Optometrists. The practice specialises in general family eyecare, binocular vision, child vision care, rigid contact lenses, soft and multifocal contact lenses, and also in the diagnosis, prevention and early treatment of eye diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy
