Gastroenteritis is usually a self-limiting disease needs no investigation or treatment. Rehydration and maintaining oral intake is the main corner stone of management. However, in some cases such as typhoid fever or rotavoirus infection blood tests, urine test or stool sample should be performed for diagnosis and treatment, infection control and also public health benefit.
