Dr Glenn Hawken is a leading Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist who has worked on the Central Coast for over 10 years. He has a special interest in Bowel Cancer surveillance, advanced endoscopy/Colonoscopy and Hepatology practice.
As a Gastroenterologist, Dr Hawken believes that he and Gastroenterology colleagues should be the first port-of-call for patients requiring Colonoscopy. Gastroenterologists typically perform thousands of endoscopies & colonoscopies per year. Colonoscopy is a Gastroenterologists core-business. Advanced colonoscopy, appropriate indications and follow-up intervals, plus safety of the procedure are all part of the bread and butter of the specialty. Given technology advances and procedural possibilities, colonoscopy is not an appropriate procedure to be dabbled in with limited numbers.
- Dr Hawken is a No-Gap private provider as is his Anaesthetist; there are no hidden booking-fees or additional expense to the patient.
- Dr Hawken accepts referrals for direct Colonoscopy privately, following receipt of referral. These referrals are coordinated by secretaries and discussed with each patient to ensure they are comfortable with the process. They also update your practice on when patients are booked in.
We would aim to complete all private outpatient clinic reviews and all direct procedures well within 4 weeks and typically within 1-2 weeks.
Education & Training Glenn graduated from Auckland Medical School, New Zealand in 1996 (BhB & MbChB) and obtained his Fellowship of College of Physicians (FRACP) in Australia in 2006. Dr Hawken was approved as a Colonoscopist and Endoscopist by a GESA conjoint committee in 2006. He has lived on the Central coast with his wife and two children since 2006.
