Elise completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Sciences from Monash University, majoring in psychology and sociology. She obtained her Honours degree in Applied Science (Psychology) from RMIT and her Masters degree in Psychology (Counselling) from Monash University, She also has her Cert IV in telephone counselling and advanced training in suicide prevention. Elise believes that all individuals are unique and she adapts her therapeutic style to fit the client. She approaches counselling from a person-centered approach, using collaborative techniques to help the client achieve their goals and resolve any issues they may be experiencing. Elise allows for the client to be the expert in their own lives and will help the client to identify their strengths and work towards living a richer, fuller, more meaningful life. Elise uses a number of different therapeutic techniques, depending on what is right for the client. Some of the therapies she uses include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)ACT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT) and Schema Therapy. Elise has worked in a number of different settings, including private practice, university counselling services, primary school and as a crisis telephone counsellor at Lifeline Australia. She has experience in working with a range of different issues, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, school refusal, trauma, alcohol and other drugs and relationship and interpersonal issues. She has a special interest in working with adolescents and individuals who present with self-harm or suicidal ideation. Elise is available at the Wheelers Hill office on Wednesdays and Thursdays
