Clinical Psychologist Dr Zeta Bierenkrant has commenced private consulting at Melbourne Paediatric Specialists in 2016 and welcomes new referrals. BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE Zeta Bierenkrant completed her Honours in Psychology in 1997 followed by her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2000. Zeta has experience in a variety of settings, including outpatient child and adolescent mental health services, inpatient units, and private practice.
For the last seven years, Zeta has worked in the Child and Family Psychology Clinic at the Royal Childrens’ Hospital, assessing and treating children and their families presenting with a broad variety of psychological difficulties. Concurrently, Zeta enjoys raising three children of her own. CLINICAL AND PRACTICAL INTERESTS Zeta is passionate about providing expert care to children presenting with a wide range of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Zeta tends to utilise an array of psychological therapies, depending on the needs of the child. She is primarily trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, so that her treatment is collaborative and research-based. Zeta believes strongly that understanding the intricate link between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours is the key to change. In addition to traditional CBT, Zeta is adept at employing mindfulness-based therapies that are proven to effectively treat numerous childhood disorders.
Throughout her years of study and practice, Zeta has developed a special interest in anxiety and depressive difficulties, self-esteem issues, parent-child relational problems, and resilience in children. Furthermore, Zeta believes strongly in fostering positive family dynamics and promoting effective parenting strategies, all vital for the healthy development of the child.
Zeta is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Zeta has specialist registration with medicare.
