Dr. Vignesh Raja completed his medical degree from Madurai Medical College under the aegis of the Dr. MGR Medical University, Madras, India. Subsequently, he undertook training in Ophthalmology at the world famous Aravind Eye Care system, the biggest eye care provider in the world. He moved to the United Kingdom to pursue further specialist training in Ophthalmology. He trained at Liverpool and Oxford with fellowships in Glaucoma and Vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Raja moved to Perth to pursue further Vitreoretinal training under Prof. Ian Constable at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital & Lions Eye Institute. Dr. Raja is a consultant ophthalmologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the Head of Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Raja consults privately at Joondalup Eye Clinic.
He has specialist interests in cataract surgery, glaucoma and treatment of retinal diseases - age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and surgery for retinal detachment.
