Dr Cade studied medicine at the University of Melbourne with subsequent clinical training and internship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He was accepted into specialist training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2008, primarily being based at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne with other placements at the Geelong Hospital, Epworth Freemasons Hospital and Northern Hospital. He completed his research higher degree (doctorate) at the University of Melbourne examining modern methods of managing gestational diabetes and was awarded an Early Career Researcher Fellowship to expand upon this work.
Dr Cade is currently the Head of Diabetes at the Royal Women’s Hospital and has a public appointment as a Consultant Obstetrician within the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit and a Pelvic Floor Surgeon with the pelvic floor unit at the Royal Women’s Hospital.
Along with numerous ongoing research interests, Dr Cade has published locally and internationally on fertility-sparing treatments for endometrial cancer and diagnostic criteria for pre-eclampsia and is also a reviewer for a number of local and international journals. He is a Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Melbourne and regularly examines medical students. He is also on the Board of Examiners for the Royal Australian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Having undertaken advanced training in gynaecological surgery at the Royal Women’s and Epworth Freemasons hospitals, Dr Cade also has an interest in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery.
Dr Cade has also previously trained with leading Melbourne plastic and reconstructive surgeon Professor Mark Ashton. Professor Ashton is the former Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and currently heads his own plastic and reconstructive surgery at Epworth Freemasons.
Dr Cade’s rooms are located on Victoria Parade adjacent to St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Fitzroy. Obstetric bookings are taken for St Vincent’s and Epworth Freemasons Private Hospitals. Dr Cade is also accredited at Frances Perry House and the Royal Women’s Hospital in case of emergency transfer. Dr Cade consults at Bundoora Specialist Health Care (www.bshc.com.au) once per month for gynaecology, with gynaecological surgery performed at St Vincent’s Hospital Kew or Fitzroy.
Having completed an Associate Diploma in classical piano while at medical school, Dr Cade still plays regularly in his leisure time. He is an organist at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Camberwell. He represented Victoria numerous times as an open-age hurdler and now enjoys the more eclectic pursuits of powerlifting and Brazilian jiujitsu (at blue belt level). Dr Cade is married with one daughter.
