Dr Syed Mohiuddin (Psychiatrist)

Dr Mushtaq Mohiuddin is experienced in general adult psychiatry, particularly with psychotic disorders, depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders and trauma related disorders (adjustment disorders, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder). His special interests include addictive disorders, pathological gambling, neuro-stimulation, forensic psychiatry, and psychotherapy (including cognitive behavioural therapy). Dr Mohiuddin currently works as the Consultant Psychiatrist for the Community Forensic Mental Health Services and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Specialist Clinic. He is an Adjunct Lecturer at James Cook University and a member of the Townsville Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee. Prior to this, he worked in the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Services and the North Queensland Persistent Pain Management team, whilst completing the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists’ addiction psychiatry advanced certificate. Aiming to provide holistic treatment plans using a personalised and collaborative approach, Dr Mohiuddin’s strengths include the ability to develop a strong therapeutic alliance whilst implementing evidence-based biological and psychotherapeutic treatment strategies carefully tailored to each individual. His other interests include reading, travelling and playing sports. He is a member of local sports clubs and believes in achieving harmony through a healthy relationship between mind, body and spirit. Dr Mohiuddin offers short waiting periods and the flexibility of after hours as well as weekend appointments
