Dr Stuart Collins (Urologist)
Dr Stuart Collins has commenced private practice at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Noosa Hospital.
Dr Collins is a Queensland trained Urological Surgeon who graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2001. He underwent basic surgical training and two years of advanced training in general surgery prior to undertaking his urological training. During his training he was awarded the prestigious Neville Davis Prize in Surgery from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons for his research on a 3 dimensional visualization system for laparoscopic surgery. He was also a finalist in the Sir Edward Hughes Memorial Clinical Research Prize in Surgery in the same year. He has presented research and given education talks at many national, state and local meetings.
After sitting his fellowship examinations in 2012, he underwent further training in robotic oncology at Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane using the Da Vinci Si robot from Intuitive Surgical. In 2013 he travelled to California in the United States to complete his Da Vinci console surgical training. He performs robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy and partial nephrectomy at Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane.
Dr Collins has commenced work at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital where his medical suite is located onsite. He is also a member of the medical advisory and credentialling committee. He consults and operates fortnightly at Noosa Hospital.
From an educational point of view, he will continue as an Associate Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Australian Medical Association.
