I grew up in central Queensland before studying education and working as a High School Science /Mathematics teacher. After teaching for 2 years, I joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1988 and went on to study Medicine at the University of Queensland. After completing 20 years full time service I transferred to the Reserves and commenced working as a GP in Brisbane.
In 2018, I completed a Masters of Medicine in Skin Cancer through the University of Queensland and then completed the Australian College of Dermatologist's Certificate of Primary Care Dermatology. In addition to humanitarian work in my military role, I have practiced as a GP in Sydney, Brisbane, Canada and most recently Canberra.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and family, and have three children all at school. We enjoy outdoor activities including bush walking, beach time, skiing and camping. Our most recent addition to the family is a playful Havanese puppy called Tim.
