Dr. Son Huynh is an ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in medical retinal disorders. He graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney, then undertook further postgraduate training and completed a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr Huynh was a co-investigator in the Sydney Myopia Study and Sydney Childhood Eye Study, both of which were conducted through the Centre for Vision Research, and has published over 30 papers in prestigious international ophthalmic journals. He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in medicine for his epidemiological work on myopia and the retina.
Dr Huynh completed his ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital and continued on with a Medical Retina fellowship with Professor Paul Mitchell. He was the sub-investigator for a number of international clinical trials on treatments for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion. Dr Huynh joined the Department of Ophthalmology as a Staff Specialist in 2012. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists. Dr Huynh speaks fluent Vietnamese.
