Dr Tilakaratne obtained her primary medical degree in Sri Lanka. She later returned to gain further knowledge and experience in anaesthetics. After working in the UK, Dr Tilakaratne migrated to Darwin, Australia in 1983. She has since spent the great majority of her professional life serving the Darwin community as a general practitioner. Dr Tilakaratne thoroughly enjoys using her 40+ years of medical knowledge and experience to teach and mentor doctors and medical students at Moil Medical Centre.
