I was born in England and migrated to Perth, aged 12 and studied Medicine at the University of WA. I spent threeRead More years at Fremantle Hospital, and was then appointed Medical Registrar to the Palliative Care Unit at Hollywood Hospital. I then worked as a GP locum in both metro and country areas and in 1991 I settled at Third Avenue Surgery and continued to work part-time with Silver Chain Hospice for 16 years.

I love all aspects of General Practice including procedural and family medicine and have extensive experience in Aged and Palliative Care. Currently, I am Chair of the AMA WA Council of General Practice, where I enjoy working to improve our health system and promote the value of General Practice. I take great satisfaction in trying to make a difference both for my patients and for the future of medicine in Australia. Over the years, I have sat on various Boards of Divisions of General Practice and Medicare Locals. I founded Australia’s first private Palliative Care Unit at Mount Lawley Private Hospital and was a founding member of the Australian Motor Sport Medicine Association. In 2000, I helped create GP After Hours Mount Lawley at Mercy Hospital and am proudly responsible for its relocation to Third Avenue Surgery. I have published in the Medical Journal of Australia and have provided expert advice to a number of Government committees, the Medical Board and the media. I am happily married with two grown daughters and when I do have spare time, I am a keen offshore sailor.
