Dr Shammi Akther is a dedicated and caring General Practitioner. Prior to arriving in Horsham, Dr Akther has been caring for her Patients at Practices in Melbourne since 2015. She has practiced at Chirnside Park, Hoppers Crossing and Melton, and now wishes to live and work in the Wimmera. She, and her husband both graduated in Medicine in Bangladesh, and Dr Akther worked as a GP there for a number of years prior to arriving in Australia. They have a young daughter, and are seeking the best lifestyle for their family, so have long-term plans to remain in Horsham
Dr Akther completed her MBBS degrees in 2007, and she has gone on to obtain a master’s qualification in Health Administration at La Trobe University. She is currently studying to gain the FRACGP qualification, and to become a GP Specialist. Dr Akther has a passion for, and long experience in, Family Medicine; Women’s Health; Paediatric and Geriatric care. She also has good experience in acute and chronic disease management.
