Dr Shaku Shanmugam is an experienced General Practitioner who has a special interest in women’s and children’s health, with vast experience working in Urban and Rural hospitals including maternity and child health clinics. Born and educated in Malaysis, Shaku is a 3rd generation Malaysian with roots from India. She interned and worked in hospitals in many states in Malaysia before settling as a GP in Kuala Lumpar.
In 2007 she moved to Conclurry in outback Queensland as a senior medical officer, attached to a 20 bed hospital for 3 ½ years. Shaku got an insight into Australian General Practice by starting work at Edmonton Family Medical Centre in 2012.
She speaks a number of languages – English, Malay, Tamil and Hindi.
