Sanj was born in Sri Lanka. He is an Australian trained surgeon. He graduated from medical school at the University of Queensland and then completed his basic surgery training in Brisbane. He moved to Western Australia in 2006 where he began his advanced general surgery training and obtained his general surgery fellowship in 2010. Sanj moved to the United Kingdom in 2011 to undertake post-fellowship training at two of the country’s leading Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery units. He spent 12 month each at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh and the Royal Infirmary Bristol.
Sanj is a consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon at Fremantle Hospital. His focus is on diseases of the oesophagus, stomach and gallbladder. These include laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, surgery for gallstones, abdominal wall hernias, all aspects of oesophagus & gastric cancer, obesity surgery and endoscopy.
