Dr Tilakaratne is a Paediatric Gastroenterologist who cares for babies and children with gastrointestinal and liver problems. She began her medical career with a medical degree at Flinders University in Adelaide, before moving to Darwin, where she first worked in Paediatrics. She moved to Sydney where she completed training in general paediatrics as well as undertaking subspecialty training in paediatric gastroenterology. In order to gain further experience Dr Tilakaratne moved to the UK and worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital in both the Gastroenterology and Liver Units, where she completed training in paediatric gastroenterology before returning to Australia as a specialist.
