I always wanted to be a doctor after seeing the amazing job the team of doctors did for my brother when he was born with a rare genetic disorder. The care he received from his paediatrician in particular motivated me to study medicine.

I was (and still am) a country kid, growing up in a number of small QLD country towns. I finished high school at St Ursula's boarding school in Yeppoon and went straight into undergrad MBBS at James Cook University, studying in Townsville and then Mackay. Following the completion of my degree I moved to the Gold Coast Hospital for my first two post-graduate years. I then joined the Army and served 7 years in uniform, completing my GP training whilst serving in the Defence Force.

After having my two children I decided being a civilian was more conducive to being the type of parent and doctor I wanted to be. I've spent the last 6 years looking after some beautiful patients at the Cavenagh Medical Centre in Darwin and have now moved to Cairns for the cooler weather (ha!) and to be nearer to family.

Working in General Practice, I have developed interests in women's health, sexual health, mental health and lifestyle medicine.

My approach to medicine is to take the time to listen and understand in order to provide holistic care. I love having the opportunity to support my patients through the different times of their lives and health concerns.

When I'm not working I enjoy being outside and active or curled up on the couch with my kids enjoying some quiet time together.
