Samantha obtained her MBBS (Honours) from University of Sydney in 1992 and worked for the next couple of years at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She then completed her family medicine training in the Northern Territory working in aboriginal community health centres, mainstream general practice and Royal Darwin Hospital. She obtained Fellowship of the RACGP in 1998. Sam has special interests in aboriginal and women’s health. She has additional qualifications in Women’s Medicine including Diploma of Obstetrics (FRACOG), Certificate of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FPNSW), and training in IUD and Implanon insertion and removal.

She also works at the Blue Mountains Women’s Health and Resource Centre and is the GP representative for the NBMPHN on its mental health advisory committee, and the Blue Mountains Aboriginal Health Coalition. Outside of medicine, Sam has a wide variety of interests including gardening, bushwalking, ultimate frisbee, yoga and surfing. She also enjoys cooking and travelling, having spent most of her childhood living in Asia
