Dr Rowena Martin (Radiation Oncologist)

Dr Rowena Martin is a specialist Radiation Oncologist with special interest in treating breast and lung malignancies. Rowena gained Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Radiologists in 2005 and now has over 12 years of specialist experience in these sites. This has included being Chair of local breast multidisciplinary team and co-Chair of the Lung multidisciplinary team. She enjoys the individualisation of treatment for each of her patients.


Rowena also enjoys implementing new technology to make treatment of tumours safer and more effective. She has actively pursued implementing such technology as Deep Inspiration Breath Hold and Breast Cups for her breast malignancy patients, to decrease the possible toxicity of radiotherapy. She loves engaging with her patients as they progress through treatment and forms a long term alliance with patients during their follow up.


Rowena also has a keen interest in training the future Radiation Oncologists. She has been Director of Training for Advanced Trainees in Radiation Oncology since 2007. She sits on various education and training committees and also is the International Medical Graduate assessor for Radiation Oncology in Australia. She is a conjoint lecturer at the University of NSW and she teaches medical students as they rotate through the Radiation Oncology department.
