Associate professor Roger Allan has been a practising interventional cardiologist for 35 years. He has a wide experience in all aspects of interventional cardiology including management of structural heart disease and coronary heart disease. He has a 30 year experience in pacemaker implantation and management.
Primary affiliation is with the Prince of Wales and Sydney Hospitals in Sydney where he is the executive clinical director. For the last 20 years he has also practised in the Sutherland Shire and the Sutherland Heart Clinic since its inception 12 years ago.
He is an associate professor (conjoint) at the University of NSW school of Medicine and a director of The National Heart Foundation (NSW). He advises both Health Ministry and Heart Foundation where he serves on several committees. As an aviation specialist he advises CASA.
A\Prof Allan studied at the Hammersmith Hospital in London for 3 years from 1979 and has authored over 100 papers and abstracts. His experience with structural heart disease includes PFO and ASD closure and his expertise with mitral valvuloplasty is internationally recognised.
Above all he has been a clinical cardiologist for 36 years and has large practices in the Eastern Suburbs and Sutherland Shire and provides consultation services to both areas. He has admitting rights to the Prince of Wales Public and Private hospitals as well as the Kareena Private Hospital.
