Dr Renee Finnigan is a consultant Radiation Oncologist at Radiation Oncology Centres (ROC), Gold Coast.
Dr Finnigan obtained her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2005 and completed her internship and residency at Cairns Base Hospital and Mater Misericordiae Health Services, Brisbane.
During her radiation oncology specialist training, Dr Finnigan rotated through metropolitan and regional training centres across the Queensland network and was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2013.
Completing a clinical and research fellowship at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Dr Finnigan specialised in the areas of intra-cranial stereotactic radiotherapy/radiosurgery (SRT/SRS) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT/SABR).
Dr Finnigan remains actively involved in clinical research, holding memberships with the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) and the Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO).
As a passionate advocate for cancer medical education, Dr Finnigan is the Queensland representative for the RANZCR Targeting Cancer Medical Student Education Working Group. Alongside this position, Dr Finnigan is also an associate lecturer for University of Queensland and is regularly involved in teaching medical students from Griffith and Bond Universities.
Dr Finnigan is a radiobiology tutor for the Queensland Radiation Oncology Trainee Network and convenor for the annual RANZCR Statistics Workshop. She regularly attends and presents lectures for the Gold Coast Cancer Care Collaborative Group. She continues to update her knowledge through literature review and attendance at national and international workshops and conferences.
Dr Finnigan has a wide-ranging practice with particular interest in breast, prostate, skin, lung and haematological malignancies. She participates in regular multidisciplinary team meetings and believes in a holistic approach to patient care.
