Dr Dostal graduated from the University of Sydney in 1992 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1997. He has worked in the Illawarra since 1993 and has been a full time GP since 1997. Dr Dostal was a partner at the Kiama Downs Surgery for seven years, before commencing at the Illawarra Family Medical Centre as one of its original Associate General Practitioners in August 2005. Dr Dostal was also active on the Board of the Illawarra Division of General Practice, serving as a General Board Member in 2001, Deputy Chairman from 2002 to 2004, and Chairman from 2005 to 2006. He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Wollongong and is involved in teaching medical students from the University of Wollongong.
