How long have you been practising medicine?

I have been practising medicine for 15 years. After graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2000, I under took my internship and residency at Tamworth Base Hospital in rural NSW. A fabulous experience made possible through being awarded a Commonwealth Rural Cadetship and John Flynn Scholarship.

On moving to Brisbane with my family, I worked as a house officer at the Mater hospital in South Brisbane. It was through this experience of working closely with patients that I decided to under take my General Practice training. I gained my fellowship in 2007.

How long have you been practising medicine in the Albany Creek area?

I have been working in Albany Creek for the last 9 years. My family and I have lived here for the past 8 years. We love the area and are active members in the local community through the school and sporting clubs.

One of my passions is Aged Care, and part of my role in General Practice is working with and visiting local nursing homes.

What inspired you to become a doctor?

I always knew I wanted to do something involving medicine. My first degree was a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at The University of Technology, Sydney where I graduated with first class honours.

My first role in medicine was in the area of cancer research but I found myself unsatisfied by the limited interaction with people. I wanted to be more involved in the day to day of helping people. General Practice has enabled this.

I love working with my patients of all ages: building strong relationships through getting to know them and their families.

What’s your passion personally?

My greatest passion is my family: I cherish the time I spend with them. In my down time I love to cook or get out into the garden. My guilty pleasure is immersing myself into a great movie.

What’s your passion professionally?

As a GP, the interaction with my patients is what continues to drive me professionally. I am a true generalist and enjoy all aspects of General Practice. The most rewarding aspect of my job is being the constant factor in the ongoing healthcare management of my patients.

I am most interested in women’s health, paediatrics and aged care.
