Dr Anand is a consultant physician in both Rheumatology and Pain Medicine. Following his undergraduate medical training in India, he moved to New Zealand and completed a dual Fellowship in general medicine and rheumatology under the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He then moved to Australia to pursue further training and obtained another Fellowship in Pain Medicine. He has a very strong clinical and research interest in pain in the elderly (particularly those with dementia) and holds a position within the Dementia Centre at HammondCare providing support through their national dementia advisory service. He is happy to offer telemedicine consults to patients including those living in aged care facilities.
In addition, Dr Anand has interests in chronic widespread pain (fibromyalgia), musculoskeletal pain and mindfulness based lifestyle interventions. He is an enthusiastic physician, who strongly believes that understanding the person is a vital part of improving healthcare experiences and delivering outcomes which matter to the individual and is keen to work and support all healthcare providers to improve outcomes for patients with chronic pain.
