Dr. Veeramachaneni completed her specialist training in Old Age Psychiatry in the UK. She worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the UK until 2014. She is currently employed as a Staff Specialist in Psychiatry in the Gold Coast Mental Health Service and also provides specialist input to the Care of the Elderly service.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK.
Dr Veeramachaneni is a Psychogeriatrician with her main areas of interests in Mental health of the elderly and Cognitive disorders including screening for dementia type illnesses. She has significant experience of working in memory clinic settings, undertaking the assessment and management of memory problems in people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Dr Veeramachaneni also has expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions with a special focus on the health and wellbeing of older adults.
Whilst in the UK, Dr Veeramachaneni was a Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and actively involved in training future psychiatrists. She continues to be involved in education by teaching and examining medical students and RANZCP(Australia) psychiatric trainees.
