Mr Peter Woodland is an orthopaedic spinal surgeon and has been an accredited Specialist at St John of God Subiaco Hospital since 1993.

He has expertise in all aspects of paediatric and adult spinal surgery. Peter is currently Head of Spinal Surgery, Department of Orthopaedics Royal Perth Hospital, and is clinical lead for the Western Australian spinal injury service and spinal deformity/scoliosis service.

He graduated MBBS from UWA in 1980, and completed the FRACS (Orthopaedics) in 1991. He then underwent spinal surgery fellowship training in the UK and completed a trauma fellowship in Florida, USA, before returning to Perth in 1993.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the Spine Society of Australia, serving as Secretary and is currently Immediate Past President.

Mr Woodland was a longstanding board member of the Perth Bone and Tissue Bank (currently named PlusLife), remains a longstanding board member of the Quadriplegic Centre of WA, is past Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, St John of God Subiaco Hospital, and is a member of the Hospital's Clinical Safety and Quality Committee.

He is a past executive member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (WA).

Mr Woodland is involved in the teaching of orthopaedic registrars, (2016 AOA Teacher of the Year), is a UWA Medical Student Mentor, and is involved with ongoing spinal research projects.
