Dr Curtin was educated in Sydney and graduated from Sydney University in both Dentistry and Medicine. He was an RMO at St Vincent's Hospital and then travelled to the UK, where he remained for five years and received advanced training in General Surgery, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery. A further 18 months of Plastic Surgery training followed in the USA before returning home to a senior registrar post at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital . Dr Curtin was appointed as a consultant initially to Auburn Hospital and then Westmead Hospital when it opened in 1978. In the intervening years, the demands of these hospital appointments have ensured that his practice has covered a wide range, with a particular interest in microsurgical reconstruction following injury or cancer surgery. His interests in cosmetic surgery have been pursued in the private hospital setting.
