Dr Sachdev completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Dundee, Scotland. She graduated with honours and received the AR Moodie Prize for Ophthalmology. During this time, she completed 3 scientific research papers in Ophthalmology.

Following this, Nisha relocated to Auckland, where she completed a PhD titled "Correlating aspects of human cataract using wavefront aberrometry and Scheimpflug photography". During this tenure, Nisha was also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland, where she lectured medical, optometry and nursing students. Nisha then completed her Ophthalmic Surgical training in Wellington and Christchurch.

Dr Sachdev relocated to Melbourne to complete subspecialty fellowship training in Paediatric Ophthalmology at the Royal Children's Hospital. Following this, she was awarded a Visiting Medical Officer position at the Royal Children's Hospital, Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Western Hospital. Nisha was training Ophthalmology registrars- surgical techniques for cataract surgery and preparing them for their fellowship exams. In addition, Dr Sachdev completed several research publications on paediatric conditions.

Dr Sachdev currently is based in Sydney. She is the Director and Founder of City West Eye Specialists, based in Leichhardt. In addition, she is also Director of Dee Why Eye Specialists. She is the chair of the Younger Fellows Group in RANZCO and is a director on the board of the Australian Society of Ophthalmologists. In addition, she is an examiner of RANZCO. Dr Sachdev also teaches at the Part 2 course with the University of Otago.
