Nicole is a sport and exercise medicine doctor with experience supporting elite athletes in Rugby Union, Rowing and Paratriathlon at an international level. She is passionate about applying the skills learnt working with these athletes to all her patients, helping them to achieve their personal best. Prior to studying medicine, Nicole worked as a Physiotherapist and believes that an active rehabilitation plan is essential.
Managing pain and injury can be frustrating and confusing. Nicole believes in taking the time to understand each patient’s lifestyle and goals and tailoring a plan for the individual. Collaboration with other health professionals and coaches is key to ensuring a smooth recovery and preventing future injury.
Although all ages are catered for, Nicole has a particular interest in treating children and adolescents, supporting them to achieve their sporting goals, while considering their future health and wellbeing. An appreciation of the unique needs of children and their families has been gained while working at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead Institute of Sports Medicine (CHISM) and in Paediatric Emergency. Nicole currently works with Rugby Union teams in the AAGPS and Shute Shield competitions and is researching injury prevention in youth Rugby Union.
Conditions commonly seen in young patients include concussion, growing pains, Sever’s disease, Osgood Schlatter’s disease, hip pain, low back pain, stress fractures and many others.
Nicole is completing further training to qualify as a specialist Physician in Sport and Exercise Medicine with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
Nicole can be found cycling, swimming and running around our beautiful local beaches and is proud to have completed the Paris Marathon and Half Ironman triathlons. As her young family grows, she understands that exercise is crucial for wellbeing at every life stage, however the ‘juggle’ requires planning and creativity.
