He did his medical training in the University of NSW where he graduated with honours. After completing his internship and residency in Sydney and Tamworth, he went over to New Zealand and completed his Diploma in Obstetrics and Child Health. He decided to return to Australia to complete the Australian Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and pursue his career as a GP. His other qualifications include the Fellowship of the Australian College of Remote and Rural Medicine and more recently the Certificate in Skin Cancer Surgery from the University of Queensland. Dr Theris still holds Visiting Medical Officer rights at Bega Hospital. Other than general practice, his interests include skin cancer and cosmetic medicine.
