In 1974 I completed undergraduate medicine, (M.B. B.S. Hons) at the University of New South Wales and continued my studies overseas, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in England in 1979.

In 1984 on graduating from the Australian Orthopaedic Association training programme in Sydney, Australia, I became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1985. I have been established in private practice in Sydney since 1985.

From 1988 to the year 2000 I was a visiting medical officer at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick and acting Head of the Department of Traumatic & Orthopaedic Surgery (1993 to 1995).

The Evelyn Hamilton Trust Award was presented to me in 1994 for the best scientific paper at the Australian Orthopaedic Association Meeting in Sydney N.S.W. (Comparisons of Fixed Strengths of Two Types of Autologous ACL Grafts) .In the same year I represented the Australian Orthopaedic Association as an exchange fellow in Hong Kong.

For the past twenty five years I have subspecialized in knee surgery and since 1998 much of my practice has focused on overall management of osteoarthritis of the knee.

I developed a strong interest in unicompartmental arthroplasty surgery and visited Dr J Repicci in Buffalo, New York and Dr Gerald Engh at the Anderson Clinic in Washington. USA.

In 2003 I founded the Hurstville Knee Clinic, a facility specialising in the treatment of knee trauma and knee osteoarthritis and in 2013 the clinic moved to Kogarah under the name of the St George Knee Clinic, offering extensive experience and expertise in the management of knee injuries and knee osteoarthritis.

Early in the 2000’s I developed a strong interest in unicompartmental arthroplasty surgery having visited Dr J Repicci in Buffalo New York and Dr Gerald Engh at the Anderson Clinic in Washington. U.S.A.

I have also developed an ongoing knee arthroplasty data base comprising of over 3,500 patients, with prospective outcome measurements including patient demographics, Oxford knee scores (OKS) and x-rays. This is a very valuable resource and I have a keen interest in using the OKS to assess the outcomes of surgery for patient education and surgical decision making.

My current practice is based in Kogarah N.S.W. at the St George Knee Clinic and I am a senior Orthopaedic Visiting Medical Officer at St George Private Hospital.
