Professor Neville Knuckey completed Medical School at the University of Western Australia in 1976, prior to resident and registrar training at Rptal Perth Hosital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. He completed a neurosurgical fellowship training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1986, and undertook Post-Fellowship at John’s Hopkins Hospital, USA.

From 1985 to 1995, Prof. Knucky was a neurosurgical staff member at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University USA, and was awarded an Associate Professor at Brown University. He returned to Western Australia as Head of Department, Director of Neurosurgical training of Western Australia and Professor at University of Western Australia in 1995.

Prof. Knuckey has specific clinical expertise in all aspects of intracranial surgery and is involved in the multidisciplinary management of malignant brain tumours, pituitary surgery and cerebrovascular conditions. He has extensive expertise in cervical and lumber spinal conditions such as radiculopathy, sciatica and spinal stenosis.

He is engaged in all levels of medical student and advanced registrar education. He continues research at the Perron Institute, QEII medical campus in neuroprotection with over a 100 peer reviewed articles. In 2018, he was awarded the Eccles research award.
