Dr Jacobs graduated from UWA in 1984, and has been in General Practice since 1989. A founding GP and principal of Leeuwin Medical Group in 1996, he is involved in a wide spectrum of patient care in General Practice, from newborns and children through to the elderly. As well as having a keen interest in managing the medical side of patient care, including complex medical cases, Dr Jacobs has an interest in skin cancer surgery. He also combines his General Practice work with anaesthesia, working at several local hospitals ( including obstetric units at Bentley and St John of God Mt Lawley Hospitals). Dr Jacobs' contribution to General Practice was recognised by his GP peers in receiving the Graeme Martin Award in 2007. Dr Jacobs is married with three children. Passions outside of work include many outdoor activities, particularly ocean paddling, running, and mountain-biking.
